چکیده
BackgroundStudies with emphasis on pure and mixed-species biofilms are of significant importance in understanding biofilm formation mechanisms during microbial infections. This research aims to evaluate pure- dual-species Escherichia coli (code A), Staphylococcus aureus B), Klebsiella pneumoniae C) Pseudomonas aeruginosa D) pathogenic bacterial species their production exopolysaccharides at laboratory scale. MethodsBiofilm biomass (A595) cultures was determined by means a microtiter plate assay triplicate using microplate photometer (Fisher Scientific, type-357). Extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) soluble products (SMP) were extracted from the cells (pure- cultures) alkaline-heat extraction method. Dry weights (g/L) EPS SMP drying samples 105 °C for 8 hours. ResultsKlebsiella accounted 28-72% greater than other bacteria. Experimental values biomasses range 6% 30% over theoretical values. The experimental value one (bacteria B + higher its expected value. Decrease or increase either bacteria A+C B+C combinations totally dependent cell density C. Conclusions Biofilm pure-species species-dependent, four following order: C > D A B. Relation between inconsistent.

Characterization of extracellular polymeric substances from acidophilic microbial biofilms.
We examined the chemical composition of extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) extracted from two natural microbial pellicle biofilms growing on acid mine drainage (AMD) solutions. The EPS obtained from a mid-developmental-stage biofilm (DS1) and a mature biofilm (DS2) were qualitatively and quantitatively compared. More than twice as much EPS was derived from DS2 as from DS1 (approximately 3...
متن کاملExtracellular polymeric substances responsible for bacterial adhesion onto solid surface.
The influence of extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) on bacterial cell adhesion onto solid surfaces was investigated using 27 heterotrophic bacterial strains isolated from a wastewater treatment reactor. Cell adhesion onto glass beads was carried out by the packed-bed method and the results were discussed in terms of the amount of each EPS component produced and cell surface characteristic...
متن کاملExtracellular Polymeric Substances (EPS) of Freshwater Biofilms Stabilize and Modify CeO2 and Ag Nanoparticles
Streams are potential receiving compartments for engineered nanoparticles (NP). In streams, NP may remain dispersed or settle to the benthic compartment. Both dispersed and settling NP can accumulate in benthic biofilms called periphyton that are essential to stream ecosystems. Periphytic organisms excrete extracellular polymeric substances (EPS) that interact with any material reaching the bio...

Metal bioaccessibility is an alarming issue in croplands of mining sites due to overloading of toxic metals. Hence, the present study is aimed to determine the overloading of toxic metal in croplands across the Tawag village, Hutti, Raichur, India. Correspondingly, to identify the soil bacterial growth, physiological oxidative stress enzyme activity and surface macromolecular functional group e...
